Is a stinky power supply bad?
a stinky PSU is bad and something is wrong. i just sent on back because it hard an horrible smell. like burning rubber. or bugs or something burning. Do you smoke at all? Or anyone in your house smoke? If it only lasts for a few days its probably normal. New electronics often have a protective coating on them (ever smell a new TV or Amplifier?)
Why does my PSU smell like a cigarette odor?
New electronics are likely to have just a bit of odor when first turned on and heated up. The problem should not continue barring some defect or improper power connection. Do not, under any circumstances, do anything while the PSU is powered on and do not make any attempts to open the PSU.

Its not normal. lol, newegg probly ran the psu until it stopped smelling. j/k but maybe - you never know. I just think antec didnt want to admit that their PSUs smell bad. Its fairly normal for a little new comp smell, its not necessarily burning but just some sort of smell given off.
