Energy storage air cooling system compressor model

Abstract—In this paper, a detailed mathematical model of the diabatic compressed air energy storage (CAES) system and a simplified version are proposed, considering independent genera-tors/motors as interfaces with the grid. The models can be used for power system steady-state and dynamic analyses. If the waste heat is not recovered during the compression period and compressed air is heated with (external sources such as) fossil fuels, the system is called a diabatic compressed air energy storage system (D-CAES) [27]. This type of CAES system still uses fossil fuels, and thus, is not environmentally friendly [28].
